TuneSift

Achtung!!!

TuneSift was written during a quiet winter in 2004, and hasn't been updated since. Although it seems to work without trouble in OS X 10.4 Tiger, there are no guarantees that it will continue to do so.

If anybody likes TuneSift as a starting point and would like to develop it further, the source code can be found here.

TuneSift is a remote iTunes library search / play tool.

With a simple keyboard command, TuneSift allows instant access to your entire iTunes music library from anywhere on your computer.

TuneSift was designed to keep iTunes as much of a background functional unit as possible. It allows for instant searching, playing, and navigation of the iTunes library. TuneSift indexes and organizes the entire iTunes library on startup, and can be used to search for particular terms, or to browse by artist and album via the popup menu.

Features:

  • Search for and play any song by typing part(s) of the song name, artist, or album
  • Browse the library via an easily accessible popup menu
  • back/forward track, play/pause, and shuffle toggle via hotkeys
  • Toggle the shuffle state at any time
  • Add the currently playing song to any existing playlist through a menu command

TuneSift is free to use. Feedback is welcome and encouraged via email.
